2018 Goal Update: February

I cannot believe that February is already over. I mean its Autumn! What?!

I have to admit straight up that I did not do as well on my goals as I had hoped I would for the second month of the year. BUT, I have an excuse. I went back to work. Yes I am a lucky duck who gets school holidays, but that also made me forget how hard it is to motivate yourself after working for 8 plus hours a day.

I will try and be better… I promise.

Here’s how my goals went in February:

  1. Complete the A to Z reading challenge. 
    YES! I did work on this one – huzzah – I finished 3 books this month, and only one counted towards the challenge (the down side to being addicted to a series were all the books start with a ‘C’)
  2. Post at least 3 times a week. 
    I’ve managed that one too… yay me! I’ve been loving posting more regularly. Its been helpful to get my brain going in the morning!
  3. exercise 3 days a week. 
    I was HORRIBLE at this for the first 2.5 weeks of February, only being able to drag myself off the couch after work on day a week. Last week was better. I managed my 3 days but it was a struggle. Here’s to March,
  4. Read 30 books in 2018
    5 down 25 to go…
  5. Try one new recipe each week. 
    So i did change this one a little bit in January to allow for it to include Uber eats and eating out (as we usually do so once a week). That addition has really helped us to stick to it. It meant that if we’d been to exhausted to cook something new during the week we were able to still have some variety by ordering from or heading too a new restaurant. Here’s to a new Lentil Soup recipe tonight!
  6. Practice positivity  and optimism
    This ones another one that’s been a bit tricky. I’ve really been trying to put in an effort to stay positive and to a degree I definitely have but I still see room for improvement so will keep striving for it.
  7. Less technology and more reading before bed. 
    Big fat FAIL on this one, I failed in February and the streak as continued. I don’t know what it is but man oh man I cannot put my phone down at night!

Other things to note: In February I also gave up caffeine. Not coffee just caffeine. Making me a decaf girl for life! It was tricky at first with a few withdrawal headaches – although I was in denial that that’s what it was – which is to be expected considering I’ve been drinking coffee for 12 years… YIKES! BUT its all been positive in terms of how my eyes and stomach have responded.

ALSO… Bless decaffeinated coffee… I don’t know where I’d be without it.
